Beauty Therapy // Level 2
The course for you if ...
You have the creative vision to excel in the beauty industry and would love to broaden this to become a Beauty Therapist.
What will I study?
You will gain experience across various areas of study, including; manicures, pedicures, facials, make-up, eye treatments and waxing. You will develop your beauty skills as well as understanding health and safety requirements, reception duties and client care and communication - all essential for a career in beauty-related industries.
There are also a number of exciting extra-curricular activities that you’ll get involved in outside your core subject, such as industry-recognised workshops such as up-to-date current products and treatments (may be an additional cost attached).
Level 2 Certificate:
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above, or equivalent. You may be able to progress from a Level 1 Introduction to the Hair & Beauty Sector qualification, or equivalent.
Level 2 Diploma:
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above, or equivalent. Must have Maths and English GCSE at Grade C or above.
For both the Certificate and Diploma, students are required to purchase a salon uniform and kit for all Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy courses (approx. cost of kit and uniform = £210, based on 13-14 costs).
Financial support may be available to help with the cost of course-specific equipment, ask the Gateway team for more details. A reference is required as well as an interview with a course tutor.
Assessment is based on practical competency, graded assessments and external online tests.
Progression & Careers
Progression onto Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, or an advanced apprenticeship, or into employment.
