you want to develop practical skills and a theoretical understanding of the world of business.
You will study units in business communication, the business environment, an introduction to marketing and business resources.
You will have the opportunity to specialise in:
- Business law
- Financial accounting
- Digital marketing
- Business leadership
You will also undertake a work placement or workplace shadowing as well as participating in an enterprise initiative to gain experience of setting up and running a real business under the guidance of industry specialist volunteers.
5 GCSEs at Grade A*to C (or numerical equivalent).
You will look in depth at finance, marketing, human resource management and e-business and will have opportunities to devise your own business plans and run your own business activities.
In addition to the main programme, you will have the opportunity to work towards additional qualifications, which are accredited by industry-recognised bodies, including:
- AAT Award Accounting Skills to Run Your Own Business (Level 2)
- OCN Award in Digital Marketing (Level 2)
- CMI Award in Team Leading (Level 2)
- CILEX Award in Legal Studies – Consumer Law (Level 2)
Assessment is all coursework based.
Progression and careers
Many students successfully completing the 90 credit certificate continue studying towards the BTEC Extended Diploma in Business to further develop their skills.
This qualification is a great stepping stone into further study at college or university in business management or any business specialism such as human resources, accountancy, marketing and law as well as progression to a higher level apprenticeship.
Future careers include accounting, banking, insurance, human resources, marketing and sales. In addition, we will prepare you for starting your own business or e-business.
