You want to develop advanced IT skills across a wide range of digital platforms. This is the perfect course if you are looking for up-to-the-minute training in computing skills and want to study selected areas for today’s computer industry.

What will I study?

Units you will study will include: Information Technology Systems; Creating systems to manage information; Social media and business; Programming; IT project management; Cyber security and incident management; IT service delivery.

Other units may include: Data modelling; Website development; Mobile Apps development; Software testing; Customising and Integrating applications and Business process modelling tools.

Entry Requirements

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths; or a pass at Level 2 Diploma, including GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above. An interview with a course tutor is also required.


Assessment is both internal and external. For internally assessed units, these will take the form of tutor set assignments throughout the year. For externally assessed units, these will take the form of Awarding body set exams.

Progression & Careers

Progression into further study at TyneMet or at university in an IT capacity, or in a specialist area requiring IT support.
