17th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) Qualification // Level 3

The 17th Edition qualification ensures you are up-to-date with the latest industry regulations on wiring and the safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems. It covers the 17th edition of the IET Wiring Regulations, which came into force in June 2008. These regulations are recognised by the British Standards Institute as a British Standard (BS7671).

Course overview

Practicing electricians must comply with the BS7671 regulations for electrical work. This qualification is designed to provide those working in the Electro-Technical industry or those looking for career progression to develop the skills necessary to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the industry.

The course, which is delivered over three days, is designed to give you an understanding of the following aspects of the regulations:

  • Scope, object and fundamental principles
  • Definitions
  • Assessment of general characteristics
  • Protection for safety
  • Selection and erection of equipment
  • Inspection and testing
  • Special installations or locations
  • 16 Appendices

Key dates

Delivery date: 3 day delivery; Wednesday 19th, Thursday 20th and Friday 21st April with the exam on Monday 24th April.

Training environment and assessment methods

The course is entirely classroom based. Delegates will be assessed throughout the course via practical exercises and an online examination on the final day. The online assessment consists of a two-hour multiple choice exam which is open book and allows you to reference the 17th edition wiring regulations 2008, incorporating amendment 3 (2015). The course will also include home work and revision.

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an accredited City & Guilds 2382-15 Level 3 certificate.
