City & Guilds (2850-26) Diploma in Engineering - Fabrication & Welding Technology // Level 1


This course is designed for those who plan to increase their practical and theory knowledge of a range of welding processes, thermal cutting and fabrication within our industry leading practical training facilities whilst preparing themselves for entry into the welding & fabrication industry or a related apprenticeship.

Units covered will include:

Unit 214 Welding by MIG Process

Unit 218 Fabricating Thick Plate, Bar & Sections

Unit 215 Welding by TIG process

Unit 212 Principles of Fabrication & Welding Technology

Unit 202 Principles of Engineering Technology

Unit 201 Working in Engineering


Entry Requirements

GCSE maths and English at grade D / 3 or a relevant Engineering qualification at level 1



Assessment by City & Guilds online multiple-choice exam, short answer question papers and college based assignments which contains practical and knowledge tasks.


Progression Routes

You can progress onto the Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence), Level 3 Diploma in Engineering - Maintenance, Installation and Commissioning, or an Apprenticeship with Tyne North Training.
