Floristry // Level 2
The course for you if ...
You're green fingered with a passion for all things bright and beautiful. You know the basics but would like to broaden your skills, knowledge and become more employable.
What will I study?
During the year, you’ll become familiar with art and design techniques used in floristry as well as learning to identify flowers and plants. Other areas of study include the creation of hand-tied bouquets, wedding designs, funeral designs and bespoke designs for various occasions.
Level 2 Certificate:
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above; or pass in Level 1 Floristry, or equivalent.
Level 2 Diploma:
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above, or equivalent. Must have Maths and English GCSE at Grade C or above. You may be able to progress from a Level 1 Floristry qualification.
For both the Certificate and Diploma, students are required to purchase a uniform and kit for all Floristry courses (approx. cost of kit and uniform = approx. £50, based on 13-14 costs). Financial support may be available to help with the cost of course-specific equipment, ask the Gateway team for more details. A reference is also required as well as an interview with a course tutor.
Assessment through coursework, graded assignments and online tests, as well as graded practical assessments in the classroom.
Progression & Careers
You may be able to progress onto a Level 3 Floristry course at TyneMet College or into employment, working in the wholesale or retail floristry
