Child Care & Education (Early Years Educator) // Level 3
The course for you if ...
You are passionate about a career as an early years educator working with and supporting children and young people. This course is ideal if you are keen to gain detailed knowledge and advanced skills to set you apart whilst nurturing and developing those in your care.
What will I study?
This course is designed to help you build and enhance the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to seven years.
You will study units including:
- Child development
- Safeguarding in the early years
- Play and learning
- Supporting literacy and numeracy
This course is worth up to 360 UCAS points, leading you directly to Early Years, Primary Education and a range of Higher Education programmes of study. The Diploma covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas including: Early learning and child care; Children’s social care, family support and working with children with more complex needs; and Learning and development support services, mentoring and classroom support.
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English Language and Maths. Possible progression from a relevant Level 2 qualification with Cs in Englsh Language and Maths. You will need to attend an interview with a course tutor and demonstrate an interest in working with children. DBS check and two confidential references, as well as the ability to work in demanding placement settings are necessary.
Assessment is carried out using a range of methods, which could include: a portfolio of evidence, written assignments, interactive elements using iPads, external assessment
and employer-led assessments.
Progression & Careers
You can progress into Higher Education or employment, including working with children or working in pre-schools, children’s centres, day nurseries, nursery schools, or reception classes as well as family support roles or childhood counselling.
