The energy flowing through our Coast Road Campus reception was brilliant. Students, recruiters and employers attending our Careers Event for Health & Social Care and Early Years on the 30th - 31st of March were full of praise.
Hannah Burridge from First Class Supply said; “Overall the careers event is a brilliant opportunity for First Class Supply as well as the students, and as a recruitment agency being able to meet the students face to face and give them information about us benefits them as well as ourselves - We can show them the help we can provide to progress into a job after they complete their studies.”
The Careers Event was a great success among our students. Many were offered volunteering opportunities on the day whilst talking to employers, which will prove to be useful to the students as they build their CVs and employment skills. The interaction between our students and employers/recruiters was fantastic to see; the Careers Event was a great way for them to learn more about the upcoming career opportunities that they can follow from their Early Years and Health & Social Care courses.
Lynne Slone, Placement Coordinator at TyneMet, said: “The careers event has become an annual date in the Early Years and Health & Social Care calendar. Learners benefit from employers attending the event at college, where they have the opportunity to fact find, and have discussions with employers in a familiar environment. The learners are able to sign up with various employers as well as gain information on gap-year experiences.”
If students choose to take up the volunteering offer from employers it could help with future interviews and job searches, and getting as much experience as possible along with their qualifications will give them a better chance when applying for their dream career. This is what the Careers Event is all about, giving opportunities and getting information, to enable the college to send young people on the right path for their future.
We hope to proceed to do this more within the near future… If your interested in our wide range of courses, please contact the Gateway Team on 0191 229 5000 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
