Over the last few months changes have been announced to the way University and Higher Education fees are going to be funded.

Despite these changes Higher Education can be hugely rewarding:  it can lead to increased earning potential, a wider range of opportunities and a more fulfilling career.  Going to university or college allows students to experience a rich cultural and social life, meet people from all over the country and the world, whilst studying something they have a passion for.

To date, Tyne Metropolitan College has enrolled 409 Higher Education students, with this in mind, an 'Information Evening' is being held on 19th October 2011 at TyneMet's Coast Road Campus, to help current students and parents understand and demystify tuition fees, grants and bursaries.

Studying a Foundation Degree, HEFD, HNC, HND or Diploma at TyneMet opens up lots of exciting career prospects.  TyneMet has strong partnerships with regional universities and a choice of courses that are flexible to fit around lifestyle and career aspirations.   Award winning lecturers support students through their course and all Foundation Degrees and Teaching qualifications are awarded by the University of Sunderland.   This facilitates great progression opportunities to top up qualifications through the partnership with the University.

TyneMet has a self-contained Higher Education Centre which has excellent IT resources, social spaces, meeting areas and interactive classrooms.   All students have access to TyneMet's intranet and the internet, as well as Moodle, a Virtual Learning Environment, which contains study materials, directed learning tasks and course notes.

Other on-site recreational facilities include a dedicated Higher Education Common Room, a refectory, a Hair & Beauty Salon, a Floristry shop, a coffee shop and a student-run restaurant.

It's not too late to enrol on a Higher Education course at TyneMet College as a few spaces are still available.  TyneMet's student advisors are ready to help get you started on your perfect course.  Call 0191 229 5000, email enquiries@tynemet.ac.uk or visit the website, www.tynemet.ac.uk  for further details about the range of courses still available.
