Fine food and festive flower arranging are set to create Christmas cheer for the public at Tyne Metropolitan College (TyneMet).

Visitors are invited to enjoy delicious dishes freshly prepared by catering students at dates in November and December.

The festive themed menu – being served from Tuesday, November 27 – coincides with seasonal flower arranging workshops taking place over the same period.

Members of the public can learn how to add their personal touch to the making of holly wreaths and contemporary and traditional Christmas-style bouquets.

All food and flower sessions are at TyneMet’s Coast Road campus, in Wallsend, North Tyneside, and parking is available.

Audrey Kingham, Principal of TyneMet, said: “This college is very much part of the community it serves, and that is why we take every opportunity to open our activities to the public.

“It is important to give people other than our students the chance to see some of the fantastic skills we deliver, and they can do that through our Christmas meals offer and flower arranging sessions.

“Some things are very specific to this time of year, and that is why we are inviting people to come and enjoy a delicious seasonal-style meal or to take part in flower arranging.

“Whichever option they choose, they will undoubtedly be helped to get in the Christmas spirit.”

The floristry workshops start with a Christmas Demonstration, which includes the offer of mince pies and mulled wine, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 21.

Holly wreath instruction is from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday, November, 28, and at 2pm to 4pm on Friday, December 7.

Contemporary Christmas arranging is from 2pm to 4pm on Friday, December 14, with traditional Christmas arrangements from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday, December 19.

A noon to 2pm lunch menu will be served on consecutive Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from November 27 to December 14, and also on Tuesday, December 18, and Wednesday, December 19.

A 6pm to 8pm menu will be served on Thursdays, from November 29 to December 20.

Booking, and a £5 deposit, is required and can be done by calling 0191 229 5237.
