Football Students at TyneMet College had a double reason to celebrate in the last couple of weeks thanks to an exciting new partnership between Tyne Metropolitan College and the Newcastle United Foundation.

Due to the College's unique link up with the Newcastle United Foundation, two of the Foundation's coaching staff, manage and coach two of the TyneMet football teams, they also provide coaching education opportunities.  Players from the Men's and Women's Football Development Centres were given the opportunity by the Foundation to attend the recent Newcastle United against Blackburn Rovers game where they celebrated with other fans a 3-1 victory.

Mark McCutcheon, Sports Coordinator, TyneMet College, said:

"All players thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are already looking forward to the possibilities of future benefits from the partnership with Newcastle United Foundation"

Ben Dawson Football, Development Officer, Newcastle United Foundation, added:

"This was an opportunity for the players of TyneMet to see firsthand the outcome at the end of a week's training.  We hope that through their training as players and potential coaches they will draw comparison between their current level and that displayed by Newcastle United first team."

The Students also celebrated when they played Bishop Auckland in the Under 17 level category at Complete Football in Gosforth.

Striving towards a successful campaign in the league, the team performed excellently and won a resounding victory.  Hat tricks from both from Dale Pearson and Kyle Stocks, a brace from Juste Akani and a single goal from Michael Trodd gave the team the winning score.
