Engineering Students Gain Full Time Employment at Flowserve

Two students studying on engineering courses at TyneMet College have been selected for full time employment with a local company, Flowserve Pumps.

Flowserve contacted TyneMet because they had vacancies for two apprentices within the organisation and wanted to make sure that candidates applying for the apprenticeships would have the necessary training and skills that would match the criteria in their apprenticeship programme. All students studying at TyneMet on the National Subsidiary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering were invited to submit their CV's and visit Flowserve in Byker.

100% Pass Rate for Foundation Degrees at TyneMet College

Students studying on the Foundation Degree in Exercise, Health and Fitness and the Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching have this year achieved an amazing 100% pass rate.

Both the Foundation Degree in Exercise, Health and Fitness and the Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching programmes are delivered over 2 years at TyneMet College and awarded by the University of Sunderland.

Students who successfully complete their two years at TyneMet gain automatic entry to study for a third year at Sunderland University and top-up to a full honours degree.

TyneMet Students Celebrate at Higher Education Awards Ceremony

TyneMet College celebrated its annual Higher Education Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 3rd July 2012 at the Whitley Bay Playhouse. This celebratory event was again sponsored by the University of Sunderland who award TyneMet's Foundation Degrees and Teacher Training qualifications.

The College was delighted to welcome Lord Shipley of Gosforth as the key note speaker for the Ceremony who congratulated all of the students on their achievements and gave an inspirational speech promoting the importance of learning and achieving in life through dedication and perseverance.

'Inspirational Teacher' from Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College, Invited to Attend Inaugural Dinner at Jesus College, Oxford.

Steven Driver a History Teacher at the Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College in North Shields was invited to attend this year's University of Oxford, Inspirational Teachers Award Ceremony.

Steven was awarded the very first 'Inspirational Teachers Award' title last year and was invited to attend a Dinner, a Panel Session and this year's Inspirational Teachers Award Ceremony as a result of his success.

This prestigious award recognises the crucial role teachers play in encouraging talented students in their schools or colleges.
