Tyne Metropolitan Girls Get Fit For the New Year

The Us Girls Project an initiative by the National Charity 'Street Games' has been working with female students at TyneMet College to determine what fitness needs they have and want.

Focus groups were held with students from the departments of Travel and Tourism, Early Years, Childcare and Hair and Beauty.  The outcome of the focus group data has resulted in new fitness classes being designed to be delivered at TyneMet for female students only, from January 2012.

Tyne Metropolitan College Signs Strategic Partnership Agreement with B&M Waste Services

TyneMet College, whose outstanding results place them in the top 10% of General Further Education Colleges in the country1, is delighted to announce the successful signing of a strategic partnership agreement with one the country's fastest growing waste and recycling companies B&M Waste Services.

The strategic partnership covers a number of joint areas and interests including; skills training and development, technical cooperation, industrial links and professional updating for college trainers in this fast growing and diverse sector.

TyneMet College Staff and Students Raise Money for Children in Need

TyneMet College staff and students raised over £700 for this year's Children in Need appeal.

Beauty, Sport and Queen Alexandra students worked alongside with TyneMet's Student Council to arrange a variety of activities to raise this staggering amount.  The activities on offer included; leg and eyebrow waxing, nail art, face painting, a cake stall, tombola, a Wii Tournament and a sponsored 5 mile walk from Whitley Bay to the College by the Beauty students.
