A historic moment for Painting and Decorating Apprentice

The North of England is steeped in the rich history of the Roman Empire, which over 2000 years ago was the largest Empire in the world. The North East was perfectly situated as a fort for defence. In fact, Wallsend derives its name from the end of Hadrian’s Wall. The much loved museum in Wallsend, Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths and Museum has been undergoing an extensive restoration to bring back to life the replica Bath Works which will once again open its doors to a community deep-rooted in Roman antiquity. Bringing the building back to its former glory, TMC Apprentice Leon Dalton who is employed by Tynemouth Decorators Ltd (subcontracted by Kier North Tyneside in partnership with North Tyneside Council) has been involved in the project to renovate the BathWorks, once the epitome of Roman luxury.

A fisherman’s tale – talented artist showcases work at Old Low Light unveiling

The building has now been pain-stakingly transformed following years of neglect and the re-opening of the Old Low Lights, which houses both modern and traditional art, and requested TyneMet College’s Creative Studios’ HND student and local artist, Michael Smith to exhibit -  ‘Salt Water in the veins’ illustrating the tales of fisherman.
