Student Union & Student Council
TyneMet is committed to supporting you to make the most of your time outside the classroom as well as inside. We offer a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, volunteering opportunities and access to professional coaching from our North East Sports Academy (NESA).
To help make TyneMet a great place to study we want to hear what you think about the College. The Student Council is the perfect way to get involved by representing your course, attending college committees, becoming a student governor or simply providing a voice to represent your fellow students.
The Student Council is a voice for you to help shape your experience while you study. Have a say on a wide range of topics from what goes on in your classroom to what extra-curricular activities you want to do. Being involved in the Student Council is good to highlight on your CV or personal statement as it shows your ability to work as part of a team or individually as an ambassador for other students and the College overall.
Our Tyne Coast College Students’ Union representatives work across TyneMet College, South Tyneside College, South Shields Marine School and Queen Alexandra Sixth Form.
The Students’ Union’s main aim is to provide students with social activities. It is also the communication link between students and the college management team. The Students’ Union elects a committee made up of a President, Vice-President and numerous officers from the student body every year.
Don’t forget you are also entitled to your NUS Totum Card!
If you would like to stand for election to the Students’ Union, or you are interested in being involved, then register your interest by emailing email@example.com or speaking to our Gateway team at main reception.
