This course is for you if...

This is the course for you if you are considering a career in the Health and Social Care or Child Care sectors.

This course will give you the opportunity to enhance your people skills, particularly in the development of young people and playing a part in shaping their futures.  This course will also give you the opportunity to develop knowledge of supporting children, young people’s and adult’s health.

 

 

 

You will develop key knowledge and awareness of the various industries across Health and Social Care or Child Care sectors. You will learn about the skills needed to work in healthcare.  You will also complete projects such as examining the developing child and activities to support children and young people’s development.

You will study a range of units including:

  • Physical care of babies
  • Health and safety
  • Cyber bullying
  • Activities for children

 

There are no formal entry requirements to study the course but we expect all students to have a keen interest to learn.

The course is studied over one year.

You will be assessed by your tutor using a range of methods, which could include: assignments, design of posters, leaflets or wall displays,  interactive elements using iPads, coursework and  one-to-one discussions.

You may be able to progress onto the Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Health, social care and Early Years settings. As you progress with the next level of study, you will develop many useful skills for employment in the Health, Social Care or Child Care sectors.

For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.

Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.

All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
