T Level in Healthcare
Course Overview
The purpose of the T-Level technical qualification in health is to ensure students have the knowledge and skills needed to progress into skilled employment, higher-level technical training or to study at university.
This two-year program combines classroom learning with real-world work experience, giving students a strong foundation for further studies or direct entry into work.
Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including maths, English and science.
Topics covered as part of the T Level include:
First Year Foundation Content
- A1: Working within the health and science sector
- A2: The healthcare sector
- A3: Health, safety and environmental regulations in the health and science
- A4: Health and safety regulations applicable in the healthcare sector
- A5: Managing information and data within the health and science sector
- A6: Managing personal information
- A7: Good scientific and clinical practice
- A8: Providing person-centred care
- A9: Health and wellbeing
- A10: Infection prevention and control in health specific settings
- A11: Safeguarding
Biology
- Structure and function of cells and tissues, large molecules, disease and disorders, immunology
- Exchange and transport mechanisms, anatomy and physiology
- Genetic information and genetics, microbiology
Chemistry
- Structure of materials and the relationship with physical and chemical properties, acids/bases and chemical change, rates of reaction and energy
- Changes, chemical analysis of substances eg. medications
Physics
- Electricity, magnetism, MRI scans
- Electromagnetism waves, particles and radiation
On successful completion of the T Level in Healthcare, there are many career pathways you can explore, including:
- Any type of nursing
- Physiotherapy
- Diagnostic Radiographer
- Midwife
- Occupational Therapy
- Paramedic
As part of the T Level, you will be assessed via formative and summative assessment throughout followed by two exams and an employer set project.
