Gateway Qualification: Level 1 Award in Essential Digital Skills

Course Overview

This course is ideal for adults with little to no experience using digital devices and systems who want to build their confidence and skills. Whether you’re looking to upskill, explore a new hobby, or change careers, this course will provide practical support in developing essential digital skills for employment, further education, or personal use.

Our hands-on approach ensures you gain valuable knowledge to navigate today’s digital world, helping you achieve your goals and prepare for the future.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, just a passion to succeed and work hard. 

This course is ideal for ESO, SEN and adult learners. It allows you to gain confidence in your academic abilities whilst gaining employability skills alongside the programme.  

You will gain the knowledge and skills in 

  • Using devices and handling information 
  • Creating and editing documents, digital media and numerical data 
  • Communicating 
  • Online transactions 
  • Being safe and responsible online 

The course is assessed with a single assessment component comprising of three parts.  This will be a 2-hour online external assessment that will be booked in when you are ready to complete. 

This course is delivered face-to-face. You will study 3 hours per week over 16 weeks.

You will be ready to sign up to a part time or full-time level 2 digital qualification. Please check our digital programmes on offer. 

This will also give you the basic skills needed for a customer service practitioner apprenticeship role or for an assistant administrator role.
