Discover the tactics cybercriminals use—like hacking, phishing, cyberextortion, and social engineering—and uncover their motives. Learn how to safeguard against these threats using cutting-edge methods like firewalls, security software, vulnerability testing, and user access controls.

 

You’ll also explore practical strategies to avoid cybercrime, from browser safety and regular updates to crafting strong defenses for personal and professional security. Plus, gain insights into the role humans play in cybersecurity and how to outsmart social engineering tricks.

To round out your skills, you’ll dive into the laws and ethical guidelines that govern cybersecurity, leaving you fully prepared to stay one step ahead of cybercriminals.

 

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, just a passion to succeed and work hard. 

This course is ideal for ESOL, SEN and adult learners. It allows you to gain confidence in your academic abilities whilst gaining employability skills alongside the programme.  

This course will also benefit adults who are wanting to upskill, pick up a new skill, or are unemployed and looking for a change of career.

This course is delivered face-to-face. You will study 3 hours per week over 16 weeks.

You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence. 

Learners will have the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to operate in the digital world safely and with confidence.

You will be ready to sign up to a part time level 2 award in cybersecurity qualification.
