On Tuesday, August 29th, TyneMet College will be hosting a charity 5-a-side football tournament which will take place at Cochrane Park in Newcastle, bringing together teams from all backgrounds and abilities for an afternoon of spirited competition. The event aims to raise funds for Leukaemia UK while providing support for Arthur Salters-Hoult , a courageous 4-year-old boy from Wallsend who has been diagnosed with an exceptionally rare form of cancer.
Arthur’s journey began earlier this year when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, a condition so rare that it has never been witnessed before in the entire world. Currently, he is undergoing an intensive form of chemotherapy, with a potential future need for a bone marrow transplant.
In response to this heartbreaking diagnosis, Arthur’s family has embarked on a mission to raise awareness about the importance of joining the stem cell donors register while simultaneously raising funds for Leukaemia UK, an organization dedicated to fighting this devastating disease.
The charity football tournament invites teams of all abilities to participate, with the objective of uniting the community and rallying support for Arthur and his family. Whether you’re an amateur team seeking some friendly competition or a group of football enthusiasts ready to showcase your skills, this event offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the life of a young boy and contribute to the ongoing battle against leukaemia.
