Course Overview

The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design Skills provides learners with a solid foundation in creative practices, enabling them to develop their artistic and technical abilities. This course is ideal for students who wish to explore a wide range of art and design disciplines and are considering progression to further study or entry-level roles in the creative industries.

 

 

The course is a one-year full time programme that teaches the core art and design skills and introduces a range of materials, techniques and processes. This Edexcel programme is delivered by a team of highly skilled teaching staff with a wealth of industry experience, in a creative environment.

 

You will develop your art and design practical skills, using a range of media, techniques and processes including drawing, painting and printing as well as being introduced to digital creative software. You will learn how to research, evaluate and present your ideas clearly, and to solve creative problems.You will also have the opportunity, to visit local and national galleries and take part in an exhibition at the end of the course to showcase your work.

Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design Skills – Learners must complete four assessment units and achieve a Pass grade for each assessment criterion.

  • C1 Responding to a Creative Brief

To study the course, you will need 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above – one must be in Art & Design.

Assessment criteria: Investigation, Communication, Practical Skills, Development, Approach – Assessed through research, written work, sketchbook development and Portfolio based assessment of Course work.

Following successful completion of the course, you may be able to progress to our Level 3 course to further develop your knowledge and skills.
