The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Working with Children in Early Years and Primary Settings is a foundational course designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career in childcare and education. It is ideal for those looking to work in early years settings, nurseries, primary schools, or as teaching assistants.

This qualification is suitable for a range of learners from the age of 16 onwards who have little or no experience in childcare.
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task.
Some learning outcomes within this qualification will require assessment in a real work environment.
On successful completion of the course, you could progress to the T Level in Childcare and Education or straight to employment in the following roles:
- Nursery assistant
- Classroom assistant
- Pre-school assistant
For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.

All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
