Certificate in Sport – Level 2 (January)

This course is for you if..

you want to fulfil your dreams of a career in sport and would like to develop advanced skills in the subject.

During the course you will study topics including anatomy and physiology, planning sports events and activities, developing personal fitness and the effect of exercise on the body.

 

 

In addition to gaining skills and enhancing sports knowledge, you will write diet plans, analyse the human body, carry out fitness testing and investigate the lifestyle of an athlete.

This course is a great start for anyone with an interest in sport but have started a course or apprenticeship elsewhere and n0w looking to change.

 

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D (3) or above (with at least one at Grade C (4) or above) or a successful pass at Level 1 Sport and 1 GCSE at Grade D or above. You can progress from a relevant Level 1 qualification. A reference from a personal tutor is required.

Assessment is coursework based using a variety of methods including oral exams, practical demonstrations, presentations, reports, role plays and observations.

You could progress onto a Level 3 Sport qualification if you achieve at least a MERIT on this course. Careers include: Leisure Centre Assistant, Fitness Instructor and Sports Coach.

This course is studied over 6 months (January-July)

For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.

Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.

All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
