Diploma Beauty Therapy – Level 2

The Level 2 Beauty Therapy Course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in beauty therapy techniques and skills. Throughout the course, students will develop both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in various beauty treatments, preparing them for entry-level positions in the beauty industry further study.

You will gain experience across various areas of study, including manicure, pedicure, make-up, facials, eye treatments & nail enhancements, also health & safety requirements, and client care & communication, which are all essential for a career in beauty-related industries.

 

You will study in our specialist beauty salons where we also run a commercial salon so you can gain real work experience to showcase your skills of the latest beauty treatments.

There are also several exciting extra-curricular activities that you can get involved with outside your core subject, such as industry recognised workshops including up to date current products and treatments.

There will be the option of studying the Level 2 Certificate or Level 2 Diploma and the right option for you will be discussed with the course leader throughout your course.

To be able to study the Level 2 course you will need to have achieved a Level 1 qualification in Beauty Therapy or equivalent.

GCSE maths and/or English grade 3 and above or a functional skills maths and/or English Level 1.

16–19-year-old learners will be required to continue with maths and English until a grade 4 or above is achieved.

The level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification expects students to have excellent communication skills and an enthusiastic approach to providing professional treatments to a range of clients within the salon environment.

Assessment is based on practical competency, graded assessments and external online tests.

Progression onto Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, or an advanced apprenticeship, or into employment. Careers include: Mobile Beauty Therapist, Beauty Therapist in a Salon or Spa, Beauty Consultant and Assistant Salon or Spa Manager.

  • Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
  • Provide facial skin care
  • Promote and sell products and services to clients
  • Remove hair using waxing techniques
  • Provide manicure treatments
  • Provide pedicure treatments
  • Apply make-up
  • Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
  • Provide and maintain nail enhancements
  • Salon reception duties

For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.

Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.

All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
