This course is for you if ...
You are considering a career in carpentry or joinery and want to learn the key skills to set you up for employment in the construction industry.
This Level 1 Diploma in Site Carpentry contains a mixture of theory-based and practical skills.
Units covered will include:
- Principles of building construction, information and communication
- Maintain and use carpentry and joinery hand tools
- Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools
- Produce woodworking joints
- Health, safety and welfare in construction
There are no formal entry requirements to study this course but we expect all students to have a keen interest to learn.
You will be assessed across a number of practical projects as well as coursework and job knowledge.
You could progress onto further study at TMC, such as the Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry, or enter employment in the carpentry and joinery trades.
For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.
Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.
All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
