The City & Guilds Diploma in Electrical is for people looking to enter the Electrical industry. It gives you the opportunity to pick up core skills and knowledge within the trade, and prepares you to progress on onto Level 2 & 3 in Domestic Electrical Installation.
The City & Guilds Diploma in Electrical is for people looking to enter the Electrical industry. It gives you the opportunity to pick up core skills and knowledge within the trade, and prepares you to progress on onto Level 2 & 3 in Domestic Electrical Installation.
This course has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions. This programme has been designed around the needs of local employers and has a mix of both practical and theory aspects, while giving you the skills to potentially move onto an apprenticeship.
Units covered include:
- Structure of the construction industry
- Fundamental safe working practices
- Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
- Site preparation for working in the construction industry
- Electrical installation wiring and terminations
- Fabrication techniques for electrical installation
- Electrical science and technology
To study this course, we would require GCSEs at Grade 4 or above in English, maths and science as well as a keen interest to learn.
You will be assessed through a series of practical assignments and job knowledge.
You could continue your education by progressing to the next level Diploma in Electrical Level 2 of study at TMC, or to an apprenticeship or employment in the Electrical sector.
For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.
Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.
All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
