Diploma in Health and Fitness – Level 3
This course is for you if...
you have a passion and drive to have a successful career within the fitness industry. The Diploma is specifically aimed at students who want to be equipped with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required for a successful career in the health and fitness industry.
This course will further develop your confidence and ability to deliver fitness-based sessions (1 to 1 and group) with opportunities, experiences and qualifications to boost your instructing capabilities.
You will learn all about a range of topics such as how the bodily systems work, programming with advanced methods of training, analysing food diaries, conducting client consultations and leading group fitness training sessions, for example kettlebells and studio cycling instruction.
There will also be a range of guest speakers from the health and fitness industry sharing key information and the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within various established health and fitness clubs across the region.
The diploma qualifies you in the following; Personal Training, Gym Instruction, Kettlebell Instruction, Studio Cycling, Circuit Training and Training in Outdoor Environments.
You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and maths to study the course.
Work experience in the industry is desirable but not essential.
You will be assessed through your coursework, which includes case studies, group presentations and practical observations. There will also be a range of externally set exams across various units.
Upon completion of this course, you can progress on to study a Level 4 in Sports Massage as well as other industry specific
fitness qualifications, e.g. Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral.
Careers include: Studio Instructor, Personal Trainer or Sports Therapist.
As part of the course, students will also get the opportunity to meet with industry professionals through a range of guest speakers and tailored workshops.
Alongside this, there’s also the experience of trips and visits to various places including gym settings.
