Course Overview

You’ll explore how programming works, diving into the basics of computational logic, two-value logic systems, logic gates, and truth tables. Learn how to use logic to make decisions, run programs, and solve problems efficiently—all essential skills for any aspiring programmer.

 

Get hands-on with popular programming languages like Python, Java, and Scratch as you develop practical coding skills. Along the way, you’ll discover how to store data securely, work with functions, and design programs with creativity and purpose.

By the end of the course, you’ll put your skills into action by designing, coding, and testing your very own computer program. Whether you’re dreaming of a future in tech or just curious to learn, this course is your first step into an exciting world of endless possibilities!

 

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, just a passion to succeed and work hard. 

This course is ideal for ESOL, SEN and adult learners. It allows you to gain confidence in your academic abilities whilst gaining employability skills alongside the programme.  

This course will also benefit adults who are wanting to upskill, pick up a new skill, or are unemployed and looking for a change of career.

  • Testing, documenting and reviewing 

You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence gathered in the planning, designing, coding, testing and reviewing your program. 

This course is delivered face-to-face. You will study 3 hours per week over 16 weeks.

Following successful completion of the course, you will have the confidence to be able to design your own basic computer program.  

You will then be ready to sign up to a part time level 2 award in computer programming qualification.
