Certificate in Caring for a Child or Children Entry 3

This course is for you if...

You’re considering a career in the Child Care, Health or Social Care sectors.

This course will give you the opportunity to enhance your people skills, particularly in the development of young people and playing a part in shaping their futures.

You will develop key knowledge and awareness of the various industries across Child Care and Education or Health and Social Care sectors. You will learn about the roles played by workers – from principles and values through to health and safety and working with others.

You will also have the option to take units in more specialised areas such as learning disability, sensory loss or mental health.

You will need a minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade1/2 or above; or at least a pass at BTEC Entry/Certificate; or progression from a relevant entry-level qualification; or equivalent.

You will be assessed by your tutor using a range of methods, which could include: assignments, the design of charts or leaflets, interactive elements using iPads, coursework or one-to-one discussions.

You may be able to progress onto the CACHE Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education & Care, or the Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care qualification. As you progress with the next level of study, you will develop many useful skills for employment in the Child Care, Health or Social Care sectors.

For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.

Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.

All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
