Course Overview

The NCFE CACHE Level 4 Certificate for the Advanced Practitioner in Schools and Colleges is designed for individuals aiming to enhance their expertise and advance their career within the education sector.

 

 

This course empowers practitioners with advanced skills and knowledge, enabling them to effectively contribute to the education and development of children and young people in various educational settings.

This qualification will equip you with knowledge, understanding and skills across a range of key subject areas, including:

  • Diverse approaches to pedagogy that influence holistic learning in children and young people
  • Statutory planning and monitoring requirements
  • How children, young people and adults (andragogy) learn
  • The factors that could influence mental health and well-being in children and young people
  • Current national strategies for promoting mental health and well-being
  • Effective inclusion of children, young people and/or adults
  • Responsibilities of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo)
  • Statutory requirements for working in partnership with families
  • The diverse needs of families, and reflect on how best to overcome barriers to partnership working with families
  • Introduction to research, and the role of ethics, when undertaking research
  • Planning, implementing and evaluating change in relation to an identified theme.

To achieve this qualification you will need to complete the following 5 mandatory units:

  • Enabling individuals to learn
  • Understand how to support children and young people to improve their mental health and well-being
  • Working with others to support individuals with additional needs and disability in a school or college setting
  • Working with families and other professionals in a school or college setting
  • Implementing change in school or college setting

To study this course, you will need qualifications in maths and English. Students will also need a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject.

An informal interview with the course tutor to discuss career opportunities is also required.

Assessment will be based on

Following successful completion of the course, you can progress to Level 4/5 teaching in the lifelong learning sector or straight into employment.
