A group of football coaching students enjoyed an exciting journey to Manchester, experiencing the football culture of the city while witnessing a thrilling Champions League clash between Manchester City and RB Leipzig. The trip, organised as part of their academic curriculum, proved to be an unforgettable experience for the aspiring coaches.
The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the Champions League fixture at the Etihad Stadium, where Manchester City faced off against German team, RB Leipzig. The students were treated to a display of top-tier football, witnessing the skills of some of the best players in the world.
Before the match, the students had the opportunity to explore the National Football Museum, looking into the history and culture of the sport. The museum provided an overview of football’s evolution, showcasing memorable moments that highlighted the sport’s global impact.
One student, reflecting on the experience said:
"The Manchester trip was a genuine highlight of the year so far. It allowed me to take in the culture and history of football when we visited the museum, as well as having the opportunity to watch a high-profile Champions League fixture. “The trip has offered a unique chance to open my knowledge about how the game looks at different levels and provided specific knowledge to help me with the course going forward.”
As well as the football activities, the students explored Manchester City Centre, taking in the vibrant atmosphere and iconic landmarks.
The football coaching students returned from Manchester with a newfound appreciation of the sport with the experience also helping to shape their coaching journey.
